Futuristic Model Kit , also known as Futuristic Robot, has announced the Moon Suit will be produced as a resin kit. The scale and price of the kit are not known at this time. The Moon Suit was going to be a styrene kit by Monarch Models. Monarch closed it's doors earlier this year. Below are some photos from the Futuristic Model Kit website. Also shown are the box art and working drawings for the Monarch version of the kit that never saw the light of day.
After several inquiries, I thought it proper to add some information about the inspiration for this design. In the early 1960s, Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation designed a prototype spacesuit for lunar exploration. It was called the Moon Suit and made a bit of splash in popular culture because of it's odd look. Grumman went on to design and build the Lunar Module used in the Apollo Lunar Module. By the late 60s, the look of the Moon Suit was appropriated by Mattel for their Major Matt Mason spaceman toy line.
